Adapting to changing abilities, health needs and financial constraints can be difficult to manage for families with dependent or older adults. People are living longer than they planned and retirement savings aren’t lasting as long. Mental health and physical health challenges can arise. Family members are often unaware of the situation facing their older loved ones, and many times they are unable to provide assistance. These kinds of issues will only grow as the Baby Boomers age and our population gets “grayer.” Older adults need a safety net, one that is made up of family, friends, neighbors and the resources they have in Fresno County. Fresno’s Department of Social Services has many programs that cater to the needs of older adults as well as dependent adults of all ages. Now is the time to start a conversation. Being proactive and having a family conversations about the needs of older or dependent adults now can prevent crises. This publication will encourage readers to take control and start a conversation now to help the loved one in their life. With Fresno County’s adult services, they will have a place to turn when they need help.

Building off the core legal analytical skills that have been our trademark for 93 years, the law school has transformed the JD curriculum to be deeply practical, experiential and career-oriented. McGeorge also offers four innovative master’s degrees in law and policy whose defining feature is interdisciplinary learning. The Capital Center for Law and Policy has cemented our reputation in one of the country’s more important state capitals. The Center of Advocacy & Alternative Dispute Resolution emphasizes the foundational training in professional skills for which McGeorge has long been recognized. The school’s new MSL program offers flexible scheduling for those who want to pursue a legal degree for professional advancement in their field. McGeorge is building on its strong roots, embracing change and educating the leaders for what’s next in law and policy. McGeorge is the only law school in the nation to offer Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) degrees.
