There When You Need Us

Think back to the last time you were in the ER … did you have to wait? Do you know why? Many people in the associate the emergency room with long wait times. But the emergency room is not a “first come, first serve” business — patients are seen in order of the severity of symptoms. The truth is, if you don’t belong in the ER, you’ll probably be the one waiting longest for care. Chronic conditions and prescription refills are not true emergencies. Many conditions can be handled faster (and better) by a primary care physician. This publication gives readers greater insight into the triage system through which patients are assessed, discusses reasons people should come to the ER, and educates them on better alternatives to the ER.
